Who We Are

Terry Murphy
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Terry graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in radio, television and film. Prior to founding Strategic Marketing, he spent some fifteen years in the broadcast industry, working for two radio and six television stations in various markets across the country. Taking the experience he had acquired in broadcasting, Terry founded Strategic Marketing in 1992 and began putting his skills to work for clients.
Mary P. Murphy
Vice President
With a diverse background encompassing radio station management, accounting, publishing and advertising, Mary brings to Strategic Marketing a unique blend of experience and abilities. She has been intimately involved in many aspects of the firm’s operations, including creative writing, public relations, accounting, media buying, human resources and other administrative areas. A native of Texas, Mary holds a BBA in management from Texas A&M University.
Chris Sommella

Media Director

Chris is a marketing professional with over fifteen years of media and management experience. After graduating from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in marketing, Chris entered the industry on the agency side, developing expertise in media planning and direct response advertising. He’s expanded his role over the course of his career to include client-facing responsibilities and account management, and has managed a diverse roster of clients, from financial institutions and lifestyle brands to consumer packaged goods and guitar manufacturers. Chris enjoys working closely with his clients to develop marketing and media strategies that will grow their businesses and take their brands to the next level.
Emily Harris

Director of Account Services

Behind every brand is a business. Emily believes that as an agency, it’s our job to grow both. With over a decade of marketing experience on both the agency and client side, she specializes in developing strategies for successful integrated marketing campaigns that span all channels. Emily appreciates award-winning creative, but finds producing bottom line results for her clients the most rewarding part of her career. Emily holds a BBA in advertising from Pace University in New York City.
Laurie Ashbourne

Creative Director

Laurie has more than 20 years of experience and has produced award-winning work for Walt Disney Studios, DuPont, The New York Times, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Proctor & Gamble and many niche businesses on the agency, corporate and non-profit sides. She is a graduate of Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism in Philadelphia, PA, founded by Ben Franklin’s Poor Richard Club, specifically devoted to the scientific study of advertising.
